Teaching

As an educator, Lindsey fosters students as both emerging practitioners and public intellectuals who can contribute to their communities through student-led learning strategies, which push students toward self-exploration in pursuit of learning outcomes. Bridging practice and theory, Lindsey meets students where they are, using their own experiences as springboards for deep theoretical and practical engagement.

Motivated by accessible, anti-racist, and feminist pedagogical frameworks, Lindsey creates a non-judgmental and collaborative classroom where students engage in a dynamic, interactive learning environment.

Lindsey’s teaching interests include dramaturgy, musical theatre, disability studies, mad studies, theatre history, feminist theatre, gender and sexuality studies, and arts administration.

Student Evaluations

Dr. Barr is the best lecturer I've had at this University. She presents the material in efficient, engaging, informative, and fun ways. Her activities on the plays we read are both enjoyable and help me to understand the play, its themes, and its larger implications and context much better. This was a class that I thought I would not enjoy too much and she turned it into my favorite class.

“From the pump up song of the day helping students feel seen, to the insightful class conversations with my peers, and Lindsey always bringing her authentic, passionate, and thoughtful aura to our class, I felt like the value of this class extends past the priceless gaining of theatre history knowledge.”

“I appreciate how Lindsey was able to make the class rigorous but still fun and engaging. She’s a great professor and I definitely recommend her class to others.”
